SCU Announces the Launch of Phoenix Metro Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program
We are excited to formally announce the launch of our new Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program at our Phoenix Metro campus, expanding upon the success of our established OTD program at the Whittier campus. This new program is designed to provide aspiring occupational therapists with the advanced education needed to enter the field of occupational therapy, while also pioneering SCU’s future educational offerings in Arizona.
The Phoenix Metro OTD program, which recently achieved candidacy status, will begin in January 2025. This program features an innovative hybrid model, blending 70% online interactive learning with 30% in-person lab immersions at our new Phoenix facility. It offers a streamlined, accelerated path to becoming a licensed occupational therapist, requiring a bachelor’s degree to apply.
Students interested in starting their journey towards becoming occupational therapists are encouraged to submit their applications before the upcoming December 9th deadline for the January 2025 cohort. As an accelerated OTD program, students have the opportunity to complete their degree in just 2 years and enter the workforce sooner than traditional programs.
In addition to the new Phoenix program, SCU continues to offer our comprehensive on-campus OTD program at our Whittier, California campus. This program, which focuses on transforming OT Assistants (OTAs) into highly skilled occupational therapists, remains a cornerstone of our commitment to healthcare education. However, the new Phoenix Metro program, which is tailored for bachelor’s-level applicants, will introduce additional options for students across the nation interested in a hybrid, accelerated learning format.
SCU is proud to bring our integrative whole-health educational model to Arizona, fostering a new generation of healthcare providers who are prepared to deliver patient-centered care, engage in interprofessional collaboration, and address the diverse needs of their communities. As a student, you will benefit from an engaging curriculum, access to experienced faculty, and the opportunity to build your skills through extensive fieldwork and a 14-week doctoral capstone project.
We invite you to explore both programs and review our OTD Program Comparison Guide to determine which path is right for you. With a strong focus on academic excellence, practical experience, and holistic healthcare, SCU’s OTD programs are designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.
