Getting to the Los Angeles Metro location (Whittier, CA)

Students attending SCU’s Whittier location have access to several regional transit options that make commuting from surrounding communities simple and predictable. The campus is conveniently positioned near major transportation corridors and supported by LA Metro bus routes, local shuttles, and Metrolink rail connections.

LA Metro Bus Service

LA Metro operates multiple bus lines throughout Whittier and the surrounding cities, offering reliable service to students traveling from East Los Angeles, Downey, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs, and nearby neighborhoods. Routes connecting to Whittier Boulevard and Painter Avenue place students within a short rideshare, bike ride, or walk from the campus area. Students can use the LA Metro trip planner or mobile app to find the best combination of bus routes based on their location and schedule.

Local Whittier Transit Options

The City of Whittier provides community-based transit solutions designed to connect riders with key destinations throughout the area. These routes can assist students who live nearby or who need a short hop from regional transit lines to the campus. Whittier Transit schedules typically offer weekday coverage with convenient stops near major roads and community hubs.

Metrolink Rail Connections

For students commuting from longer distances, such as Orange County, the Inland Empire, or downtown Los Angeles, Metrolink provides a fast and reliable rail option. Riders can take the Metrolink Orange County or 91/Perris Valley Line to the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs Station, then connect to LA Metro or local bus service for the final portion of the trip to campus. This combination is often faster than freeway travel during peak traffic periods.

Last-Mile Options

Biking and walking: The Whittier Greenway Trail offers a safe, convenient corridor for cyclists and pedestrians. Students living in Whittier or traveling from nearby bus stops may find biking the last mile especially efficient.

Rideshare connections: When schedules are tight, many students use rideshare services for short, inexpensive trips from nearby transit stations to campus.
