WHITTIER, CA – (June 12, 2023) — SCU Health is proud to announce a free Chiropractic Care event open to all Southern Californians on Saturday, June 17 from 1–4 p.m. Our monthly SCU Health Community Outreach Clinic is part of a continuing effort to serve the community with integrative, whole person healthcare services, increase the awareness of whole person healthcare benefits, and provide students with clinical experience and patient treatment. The following healthcare services will be offered at our June 2023 Community Outreach Clinic:
- Chiropractic consultation and treatment. Treatment is based on the consultation and varies, based on the needs of each patient.
No appointments necessary as patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The SCU Health Community Outreach Clinic is held on the SCU campus at the Sports Medicine Clinic located inside Building T, across from SCU Health. Please see the SCU Health website for parking information and campus map.
SCU Health Community Outreach Clinics are free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 – $25. All patient donations will benefit La Habra’s non-profit Meals on Wheels, which provides home-delivered meals for anyone unable to prepare or obtain adequate meals, regardless of race, religion, sex, age, or ability to pay.
SCU Health has been hosting free Community Outreach Clinics since June 2020 as a way to serve the community and help prepare SCU Health science students as future physicians. SCU students receive course credit for volunteering but can also volunteer solely to practice. Licensed faculty and clinical physicians supervise the students, and the care patients receive.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity to reach the people who are interested in considering integrative medicine, including chiropractic care,” said Sharon Martinez, SCU Health’s Provider Liaison. “When the pandemic hit, we wanted to provide a way to reach our patients with minimal risks, but still receive the same quality treatment that patients would experience if they were to be seen in our clinic.”
The next SCU Health Community Outreach Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, July 22. Full details will be released closer to the next event date.
SCU Health Community Outreach Clinics currently do not receive any outside or donor support. If you would like information on supporting future SCU Health events, please contact Sharon Martinez, SCU Health Provider Liaison, at sharonmartinez@scuhs.edu, or (562) 378-9335.
