Elections were recently held for the 2023 annual Student Senator positions. The Senate is comprised of Senators elected by members from their respective academic programs. Senators serve a term of one calendar year.
Congratulations to the following elected Student Senators for 2023 who will serve a one-year term beginning Jan. 2023, through Dec. 2023.
Cole’s goals for serving as the DC Senator:
“My goal as senator is to promote the needs of chiropractic students and bridge the gap between faculty, administrators, and students.”
Cole attended Fresno State University to complete his prerequisites for LACC.
“My favorite class is Differential Diagnosis (DDX1) with Dr. Horrigan because it was the first class that made me feel like a doctor and not a student.”
“I am the secretary for the Activator Club.”
“I’m not sure where or what kind of practice I want to work for once I graduate. As long as I can work with my hands and help people, I’ll be fulfilled.”
Hamed’s goals for serving as the MSMS Senator:
“I hope to develop my leadership and organizational skills and to increase school spirit. It would give me great pride to represent my classmates and be a voice for them.”
Hamed earned his Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in biochemistry, at Boston University.
Favorite SCU class:
“I would love to become a dentist. I’ve been working as a dental hygienist and dental assistant for many years. I love advancing my knowledge and skills in the dentistry field.”
Tara’s goals for serving as the MSPA Senator:
“As PA Senator, I hope to further expose our PA class to the integrative medicines here at SCU. By working directly with other program senators, I plan to build a stronger community and network for my peers, and I am looking forward to helping cultivate a well-rounded experience for students.”
Martinez, CA, located in the Bay Area.
Tara earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from San Diego State University.
Favorite SCU class:
“So far, my favorite class at SCU has been pathophysiology because it helps connect all the concepts we are learning in other classes and brings the material full circle. Pathophysiology has helped feed my curiosity to know why certain diseases occur!”
Favorite hobbies, outside of being a PA student at SCU:
“When I’m not studying, I love to travel, go to the beach, exercise, and spend time with friends and family!”
“Currently, my career interests include family or emergency medicine, but I will enter rotations with an open mind!”
Student Senator meetings take place every Monday via Zoom, from 6 – 7 p.m. If you would like to attend a meeting, please email StudentSenate@scuhs.edu for the Zoom link.
