Biography

Dr. Briana Bonner, OTD, OTR/L is an occupational therapist, educator, and global advocate passionate about introducing students to the meaningful and transformative work of OT. With a background spanning pediatric care, global health outreach, and nonprofit leadership, she brings both depth and real-world insight to the classroom. 

Dr. Bonner offers a unique global perspective shaped by hands-on experience in the U.S., Botswana, Kenya, and beyond. As co-founder of the Network for Inclusion and Advocacy (NIA) and leader of Helping Hands Global Outreach, she provides telehealth services, consultation, and training to families and providers across Africa. Her work centers on expanding access to care, promoting equity, and advancing community-based occupational engagement for underserved populations. 

Her teaching philosophy centers on active learning, cultural humility, and authentic connection, empowering students to develop their voice, think critically, and lead with compassion. 

Dr. Bonner holds a Doctor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch, a Master’s in OT from the University of Illinois Chicago, and a Certificate in Global Health Delivery from Harvard Medical School. 

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Bri enjoys music, dance, and finding joy in the small things that connect us all.
