Biography
Dr. Lau is a licensed physical therapist from Honolulu, Hawaii, with 10 years of clinical experience. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2011, and received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary’s University in 2015. He is also a ABPTA Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist since 2023 and APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor since 2021.
Dr. Lau’s clinical experience includes working at an acute care community hospital serving patients with orthopedic, cardiopulmonary, neurological, and general medicine conditions. There he acted as lead physical therapist and therapy co-representative on the Stroke Committee assisting in New Employee Orientation Transfers and Patient Handling. He also helped in developing the Stroke Rehab Protocol towards achieving the American Stroke and American Heart Association Certified Stroke Center designation.
Dr. Lau currently works at an inpatient rehabilitation facility serving primarily patients with neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, SCI, PD, MS, GBS, and other movement disorders. He has acted as co-leader for the inpatient and outpatient Stroke Support Group, co-trainer for the New Employee Orientation Transfers and Patient Handling, staff clinical mentor and student clinical instructor, and PT student program Site and Clinical Educator Coordinator.
Prior to obtaining his clinical license, he received clinical experience as an Adaptive Equipment Specialist including wheelchair modification/management and adaptive equipment fabrication.
In his spare time, he enjoys sports, movies, music, baking, and spending time with his family including keeping up with a 2-year-old toddler.
