Biography
Mai Breech, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist, who holds a BA from Wellesley College, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She completed her pre- and post-doctoral training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles and received additional pre-doctoral training as a Psychological Associate supervised by a Reiss-Davis core faculty member from a psychoanalytic/ Lacanian perspective.
Dr. Breech has been working with orphans and foster children. In 2007, she founded the Children’s Art Village, a grassroots non-profit organization that provides art and music to children in Ghana, India, and Nepal. Through this initiative, orphaned children can express their creative selves without relying on language but instead utilizing their creativity. Currently, she is also an advisor to administrators and staff at a Sense of Home, a nonprofit home creation for former foster youth, as well as an advisor and consultant for Pressman Academy in West Los Angeles.
Dr. Breech's area of clinical practice and research focuses on childhood development, attachment, and developmental trauma. In her private practice in West Los Angeles, she works with children, adolescents, and adults who have unresolved childhood wounds that continue to affect their relationships with others and their overall personal well-being. Her integrative practice incorporates somatic work, art, sand play, active imagination, and dream interpretation. For the past 18 years, Dr. Breech has been a mandala artist.
Dr. Breech is currently adjunct faculty at The Chicago School in the Clinical Psy.D. program as well as faculty in the Southern California University Reiss Davis Clinical PsyD program. Additionally, Dr. Breech has been a guest lecturer for the clinical doctorate programs at Pacifica Graduate Institute, the trauma program at Antioch Santa Barbara, the public programs at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, and Esalen Institute.
