Biography

Cory McHale, MS, CGC, is a board‑certified, Illinois‑licensed genetic counselor and Assistant Program Director at SCU, where she leads fieldwork coordination for the Master of Science in Genetic Counseling Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and her Master of Science in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College.

Cory began her career as a clinical genetic counselor in maternal–fetal medicine before advancing to a Senior Genetic Counselor role in oncology. During her time in oncology, she served on tumor boards and contributed to the Oncology Committee and Breast Program Leadership Committee, supporting institutional compliance with CoC and NAPBC standards.

Her industry experience includes several years with genetic testing labs in sales and clinical services, strengthening partnerships between clinicians and laboratory teams.

After stepping away from professional work to care for her children, Cory became Managing Director of The CEU Shop in 2025. She joined SCU shortly thereafter, bringing her combined expertise in clinical care, industry operations, and professional education to support the next generation of genetic counselors.
