Biography
Dr. Hajjawi is the organic chemistry coordinator at LA Valley College. He is the instructor for the organic chemistry courses (CHEM 211 and 212). Dr. Hajjawi is also a part-time faculty at Irvine Valley College where he has been teaching the organic chemistry series.
Dr. Hajjawi has been in the academic world of chemistry for about 18 years. He started his career in higher education at San Diego State University and University of San Diego as an adjunct professor in 2007. Two years later, he joined University of Petroleum and Minerals as an assistant professor of organic chemistry. Dr. Hajjawi has been conducting research in the areas of organic methodologies, synthesis and organometallic chemistry. During his sabbatical periods, Dr. Hajjawi had the opportunity to collaborate and work with distinguished scientists at Caltech (Prof. Grubbs), UC Berkley (Prof. Yaghi) and UC Riverside (Prof. Lavallo). His passion for teaching nevertheless made him implement a career change in 2015. He taught at Cerritos College, Fullerton College, Coastline Community College and Mount San Antonio College.
Dr. Hajjawi has gained a great deal of experience in teaching. He taught undergraduate courses including introductory chemistry, general chemistry I and II, organic chemistry I and II as well as graduate level courses in synthetic organic chemistry.
Dr. Hajjawi has a Ph.D. from UC San Diego and a master’s from San Diego State University.
