Master of Science in Genetic Counseling

Message from the Program Director

Cory-McHale

As the MSGC Program Director, I have the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary community of learners, fieldwork supervisors, and faculty who share a commitment to compassionate, evidence‑based, whole-person care. Our program is built on the belief that genetic counselors play a critical role in helping individuals and families navigate complex life decisions. We strongly believe this work requires both scientific rigor and deep humanity.

Each MSGC student brings a unique perspective, and we intentionally cultivate an environment where those perspectives are valued. A unique aspect of our program is the focus on integrative health, which is woven into the culture here. Our curriculum is designed to challenge, support, and prepare students for the realities of modern genetic counseling work. An advantage of our online model is that we have connections across the country. You will find mentors who are invested in your growth, supervisors who model excellence, and a collaborative community.

Our goal is to train genetic counselors to be confident, adaptable, ethically grounded, and ready to lead. Whether you are exploring the profession or preparing to apply, I’m grateful you found us. I invite you to learn more about our program, our values, and the opportunities that await you in this fascinating career.

What Sets Us Apart?

  • Patient-Centered Care: Our program focuses on training students to consider the individual needs, preferences, and goals of patients and their healthcare providers.
  • Integrative Health: Our curriculum and fieldwork experiences combine conventional medicine with complementary and integrative therapies to treat the whole person rather than only addressing symptoms.
  • Evidence-Based Practices: Students will have hands-on experience learning from a diverse range of experts and implementing evidence-based genetic counseling and integrative health practices in the field.
  • Advocacy: We empower our graduates to advocate for patients, families, and ethical practices. They will ensure patients receive patient-centered care while empowering individuals to promote their right to make medical decisions that align with their beliefs and personal goals.

Join Our Journey: Whether you’re a prospective student, a seasoned professional, or simply curious about the world of genetics, we invite you to explore our MSGC program.
