Enpowering Futures In Occupational Therapy: Inside SCU’s Innovative OTD Program
To celebrate Occupational Therapy Month this April, we’re shining a spotlight on the innovativeOccupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) programat Southern California University of Health Sciences. Our program stands out by offering a unique blend of primarily remote learning, complemented by frequent on-campus experiences. Over seven and a half terms, or approximately two and a half years, students engage in both classroom and experiential learning, diving deep into the realms of evidence-based care, lifestyle health, lifelong learning, and occupational justice.
Our commitment to accessibility and excellence in occupational therapy education is exemplified by our Bridge Program for Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs). This unique pathway empowers OTAs to accelerate their journey towards a doctorate in just two and a half years, bypassing the requirement for a full Bachelor’s degree. It’s a testament to our dedication to providing opportunities for career advancement in occupational therapy.
Dr. Heather Thomasis leading the charge in this groundbreaking program.
