SCU Health: on-campus facilities

SCU Health consists of two exclusive facilities that reside on campus, allowing you the opportunity to take your learning out of the classroom with ease. Our University Health Center houses 36 private treatment rooms and 1,000 square feet of dedicated active care space serving over 25,000 patients per year. Our Human Performance Optimization Center gives you access to sports training and treatment opportunities to help athletes perform at their best level.

Clinical Experience by Discipline

Each program’s experience is unique and designed to meet the learning outcomes of the program and needs for licensure.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Students start their clinical studies at our on-campus locations in their very first term. After they have completed their first clinical term, they are afforded the opportunity to expand their experience to our partner health centers listed below, roughly 100 private practice locations, and VA Hospitals. Students have the opportunity to get VA Hospital clinical learning in the following locations: Greater Los Angeles (Loma Linda and Long Beach), Palo Alto, and Phoenix.

Doctor and Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine

The vast majority of ACM clinical experience takes place in our SCU health facilities. The accreditor requires that at least 80% of clinical practice must be at an owned or operated clinic. Students who have an interest will have the opportunity to utilize the following partner locations: California State University, Fullerton, The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, and The Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

Doctor of Occupational Therapy

The Doctor of Occupational Therapy is structured so that students explore a variety of settings through their Level I Fieldwork courses that occur during the first four terms of the program. Students then complete 24 weeks of full-time Level II Fieldwork in a minimum of two different practice settings, followed by a culminating Doctoral Capstone Experience and project.

Ayurveda

All Ayurveda students will have their clinical experiences at the University Health Center, where they will work alongside SCU faculty working with patients from the surrounding community.

Physician’s Assistant

Physician Assistant students are required by the accreditor to participate in specific clinical experiences that take place at SCU Health and a variety of locations throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.
