Biography
Dr. Charissa Douglas is an Assistant Professor at Southern California University of Health Sciences. She also serves as an adjunct faculty at Chaffey College, teaching Medical Terminology. A licensed chiropractor and a certified athletic trainer, Dr. Douglas brings over a decade of experience providing high-performance medical care to elite and Olympic-level athletes.
Throughout her career, Dr. Douglas has collaborated with multiple national governing bodies, including USA Volleyball, USA Softball, USA Water Polo, and the United States Soccer Federation. She served as the head athletic trainer and lead medical professional for USA Softball at the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo and currently holds a full-time clinical role with USA Volleyball working with both Men's and Women's Indoor National Teams, and Beach National Teams. Her leadership has included coordinating care for thousands of athletes, managing multidisciplinary medical teams, and contributing to the advancement of athlete health and performance strategies at the national and international levels.
Her academic and professional interests include sports medicine, concussion management, emergency preparedness, interdisciplinary team coordination, and the integration of data analytics and performance monitoring to optimize athlete outcomes. Dr. Douglas is also passionate about medical education and has contributed to curriculum development, educational content creation, and textbook editing to support the training of future clinicians.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training with a minor in Psychology and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree with sports medicine honors.
