John Scaringe, D.C., Ed.D
President / CEO

John Scaringe:
SCU’s mission is to graduate caring and competent integrated healthcare practitioners. We’re preparing our graduates for the healthcare system of the future through interprofessional education and team-based care.

Melissa Nagare Kimura, DC, L.Ac, CCSP
Vice President, SCU Health System • Chief Clinical Officer

Melissa Kimura:
SCU’s special for so many reasons, but for me, the number one thing is that integrative mindset – recognizing that we need a team of providers in order to help every patient situation.

Todd Knudsen, D.C., DACBR
President’s Chief of Staff / VP for Governmental Relations

Todd Knudsen:
We try to get our students to be in the same classrooms – in those classes that make sense to share. Basic sciences classes like anatomy and physiology are the same regardless of the profession.

James Cox, D.C.
Instructor, Clinician, Quality Assurance Chair, SCU Health System • SCU Alumni

James Cox:
Down the line they’re going to have an appreciation for those other vocations and have a basic knowledge of how those therapies can treat their patients. You see these wellness clinics popping up all over the place. It’s a one-stop shop for people looking for healthcare. You have got a medical doctor and a chiropractor, an acupuncturists, a psychologist – all working together now and who wouldn’t want to just walk in the door and be able to be referred to whomever it is they need.

John Scaringe:
SCU faculty really do take pride in the success of each and every student that we have.

SCU student:
The instructors, the admin, they’re there to support and that is just phenomenal.

Jeff Corral
AVP, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

Jeff Corral:
If students find their passion and they want to come and pursue that passion here at SCU – we will find a way to help you make it happen. Whether your need is housing, whether your need is financial, whether your need is just academic support, we can work with you and help you with whatever issues you need help with.

John Scaringe:
SCU’s location in Southern California is ideal for everything we’re about. It is a culture, here, of lifestyle medicine; people who are active, they’re within driving distance of the mountains and in the same day they can be on the beach.

SCU student:
The campus is very open so you’re never in one building the entire day. You’re always walking around outside. There’s a lot of outdoor events and seminars can be outdoors.

Jeff Corral:
What I love about SCU is the kindred spirit that exists here on campus. While there are many diverse students here studying various disciplines, what’s common among all the students is that desire to help. And so, it’s that spirit that I love about SCU so much and I think that’s the reason why students love being here on campus.

John Scaringe:
What makes me excited about coming to work every day is coming into a community of people who are visionaries, people who are pioneers, and people who truly believe that they’re changing the face of healthcare. And to be a part of that team and to see the improvements that are coming and possibilities in the future, there’s no greater satisfaction.
