Mr. Tim Farris brings 35 years of experience in the field of information technology from a diverse background in both university and corporate settings. While serving as CIO at Ursuline College, he positively influenced and directed the seamless integration of the best of IT services with the College’s strategic plan. Some examples are the ease and ready acceptance of a new learning management system, his design and implementation of a simulation lab for the Breen School of Nursing at Ursuline, and his insertion of interactive and collaborative classroom technologies that support better teaching and learning outcomes.
Tim produced an integrated website for student registration at the UCLA Extension. He received monetary awards there for developing 1) a layered financial tracking system with levels of real-time transparency based upon executive clearance and 2) a pre-scheduling planning application that greatly reduced the registrar’s workload.
At CSU Dominguez Hills, Tim developed three major proprietary systems that improved productivity and lowered costs: 1) an online, part-time worker contract system; 2) a nursing client tracking system to manage the placement of off-site workers and manage their work hours; and 3) an educational client credentialing ERP. At Allan Handcock College, he proposed and developed a comprehensive online information system for handling human resource, payroll, and student registration processes that ran for 23 years.
Tim holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and a BA in Music from Azusa Pacific University. He is married, with two adult children, and enjoys playing the saxophone, bridge, and golf, and runs his homebred Grand Champion Dalmatians in dog agility sports.
