Robert D. Mootz was the first chiropractor to fill a governmental health services research and policy position. As Associate Medical Director for Chiropractic with the State of Washington’s Department of Labor & Industries, Dr. Mootz developed conservative care best practices resources for DCs and others involved in the care of injured workers and was instrumental in establishing community-based Centers of Occupational Health and Education that reduced long-term disability from work-related injuries. In addition to private practice and serving in faculty and administration positions at Palmer College of Chiropractic West, he has conducted numerous research studies on chiropractic care and published more than a hundred clinical and scientific articles and book chapters. He currently resides in Olympia, Washington consulting periodically on best-practices care.
