A Community Message from President Scaringe
Dear SCU Community,
The recent events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia have filled many of us with shock, sadness, and anger. On behalf of all of us at Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU), I offer my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims who lost their lives or faced injury during the tragic incident.
Acts of violence, bigotry, and hatred go against the values of our nation and of this University. I join my colleagues at universities around the country in my condemnation of intolerance and violence.
These challenging times provide an opportunity for us to reaffirm our core values of embracing a diversity of ideas, beliefs, and cultures by providing a campus that is supportive, safe, and welcoming to all students, staff, and faculty.
As we prepare for the Fall 2017 term, let us endeavor to live our values of inclusivity and mutual respect while embracing a diversity of ideas in a safe and welcoming environment. Should members of the SCU community feel uncomfortable or threatened by events stemming from intolerance or violence—do not hesitate to contact Campus Safety at ext. 333. We support you, and we are here for you.
If you have any concerns, questions, or needs—please do not hesitate to contact me directly. As always, I have an open door policy.
