Dr. Anu – International Ayurveda Award Recipient!
Dr. Anupama Kizhakkeveettil, affectionately known around campus as Dr. Anu, recently received the Sheikh Zayed International Awards for Ayurveda! After receiving the award, Dr. Anu shared, “I am extremely honored and humbled to receive this award for Ayurveda. The award bears the name of Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and a visionary statesman who dedicated his life to laying a solid foundation for a progressive society that benefits everyone. The award aims to create, recognize and reward excellence in Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) by honoring esteemed scientists for their distinguished contributions in improving the quality of life of humanity, using one of the traditional and complementary and alternative medicine modalities.”
Additionally, we would also like to congratulate Dr. Anu for receiving this year’s American Public Health ICTHP Service Award! She was given this award for outstanding leadership, service, and dedication to integrative complementary and traditional health practice. She was an integral part in helping the World Health Organization’s finalization of benchmarks for the practice of Ayurveda.
SCU is honored to have Dr. Anu as part of the University since 2004. Her diverse educational background as a Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist, Yoga teacher, and a Ph.D. in Public Health has allowed her to play an integral part in growing SCU’s Ayurveda program as well as the Ayurvedic community on a global level. In addition to her global recognitions, with her hard work as Program Director, for the first time, we will have over 90 students graduating from the Ayurvedic program in April 2020!
Once again, Congratulations to Dr. Anu! Her passion and leadership to Ayurveda, public health, and research are second to none!
