SCU’s DACM Program Granted Accreditation by ACAOM Through 2025
Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) is pleased to announce its accreditation for the Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) program by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Actions for affirmation were taken by ACAOM at its winter 2018 meeting, February, 21-24, 2018, culminating in a formal announcement on February, 24, 2018. As a pioneer of healthcare education, SCU was the first university to offer a First-Professional Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (FPD) program—which graduated the first FPD in the United States. SCU’s First-Professional Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine program is one of the first on the West Coast to be accredited professionally by ACAOM.
ACAOM’s affirmation of SCU’s DACM Program—which continues for seven years through 2025—asserts that the SCU’s mission, goals, and program objectives ensure a quality Acupuncture and Chinese medicine education for students. “We are pleased to receive accreditation from ACAOM. The endorsement serves as an affirmation of our faculty and staff’s hard work, and inspires us as we pursue our vision of being recognized as the premier institution in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine education and integrative healthcare,” said SCU’s President/CEO, John Scaringe, DC, EdD.
ACAOM is a specialized accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE). National, regional, and specialized accreditors are reviewed by the USDE to ensure that the accrediting body meets specific standards established by Congress.
