What is the estimated total tuition cost for the MAOM Program?

30 clock hours are equal to 1 unit and the cost per unit is $246
What are the total number of clinical hours in the CEM program?
 1020 hours. Clinical rotations begin in the 3rd term of the first year. Clerkship courses are as follows:
  • Introduction to Clinical Clerkship–30 hrs in 3rd term
  • Continue with another 120 hours of Observation in 4th term
  • Supervised Practice I,II, II at 450 from term 5 to term 7
  • Independent Practice I, II of 420 hours from term 8 to term 9
How many hours and units are required at CEM to earn a degree?
The Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) degree will be conferred upon successful completion of 3,285 hours/172 units
What is the transfer policy for ACAOM accredited and CA Board approved schools?
Up to 100% transfer credit may be awarded for coursework and clinical instruction completed successfully at another acupuncture school or college which is approved by the board. A minimum of one academic year of the MAOM Program must be completed at SCU’s CEM prior to conferring the MAOM Degree.
Does SCU offer relocation assistance?
Yes, the Office of Admissions will work personally with students to provide full access to off-campus housing listings (from apartment accommodations to homes for rent) and even roommate referrals.

How can I ensure timely transfer of my financial aid information?

To ensure timely matriculation, please prepare the following supporting documents:

  • Step 1: Complete the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov Add SCU FAFSA School Code of 001229.
  • Step 2: Complete the online entrance counseling on the Federal Direct Loan Servicing website at http://www.studentloans.gov.
  • Step 3: Complete and Sign your Electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) at http://www.studentloans.gov.

Is Southern California University of Health Sciences accredited?
Regionally, SCU is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are the only Acupuncture College that has WASC accreditation. WASC is the same agency that accredits UCLA, Stanford, and USC. The College of Eastern Medicine (CEM) is accredited by Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). CEM’s sister school at SCU, the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC), is accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE).
I have a full time job commitment. What kind of course schedule does the College of Eastern Medicine (CEM) offer?
CEM offers flexible scheduling options. Students are able to conveniently transition from a part-time to full-time schedule. Most of the classes are offered in the evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with some afternoon and Saturdays sessions. The Office of Financial Aid will work personally with students to help them secure the necessary funding (Stafford Loan Program, College Work Study, GradPlus Loans) to finance the cost of education and living expenses.
I don’t plan to apply for financial aid, what other payment options do you offer?
To accommodate the needs of our international and diverse national student population, the Student Accounts division at SCU offers flexible credit card and installment payment options for all our programs.
Will the Office of the Registrar automatically release my SCU-CEM transcript to the California Acupuncture Board?
No, students will need to officially submit a transcript request to SCU Office of Registrar to have an official SCU-CEM transcript sent to the California Acupuncture Board as part of the application process for examination. Furthermore, the Academic Advisor at CEM will provide academic support and Grad Check guidance/clearance to ensure timely completion of graduation requirements. Students would also be able to register for Clean Needle Technique and the issuance of CPR and First Aid Card upon successful completion of the Emergency Procedures course in the 7th trimester.
