2011 Whole Food Nutrition Certificate Course

June 21, 2011

This ground-breaking new certificate program on whole food nutrition will be offered at SCU starting this June.

There will be eight weekend sessions and a final comprehensive examination leading to a certificate in Whole Food Nutrition. You will learn the fundamentals of whole food nutrition philosophy, including the nutritional content of food grown locally, the difference between organic and commercial farming, how different farming methods affect the nutrient content in food, and how government agencies also affect our food quality.

Each session reviews major biochemical and physiological mechanisms, the role of nutrients within specific systems, and focuses on advanced principles of whole food nutrition and supplementation within the clinical setting. Special attention will be paid to the role of phytonutrients in the support of patients with specific health conditions and how to help them achieve overall balance and well-being.

Additionally, students will gain a deeper understanding of the symptom survey, nutritional examinations, diagnostic methods, and basic implementation of whole food nutrition in a health care practice.
