Sivarama ‘Prasad’ Vinjamury, MD (Ayurveda), MAOM
Sivarama ‘Prasad’ Vinjamury, MD (Ayurveda), MAOM, graduated in Ayurvedic Medicine from University of Kerala, India and received his Maters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southern California University of Health Sciences, Whittier, USA. He is currently working as a Professor of Research in the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Southern California University of health sciences (SCU), Whittier, California. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist in California and also holds a Diplomate in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He provides clinical services at the University Health Center at SCU and at the Students Health and Counseling Center at CSUF.
His main interest is in research in complementary and alternative medicine, which includes Ayurveda, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic. In the last two years, six of his articles have been either published or accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he also presented eight papers in these two years on various subjects in both national and international conferences. In one of these conferences, last November, he was awarded a Young Investigator Award for his work on Cancer Research. Additionally, he was also a recipient of Fleckles Scholarship Award from CSUF and Excellence in Research Award from SCU in 2007. Currently, he is the Principal Investigator of studies on Fibromyalgia and Insomnia. Prasad also serves as a peer-reviewer for five alternative medicine journals.
