Dear Students,
Welcome! This is it! The start of a new term, and the beginning of a life-changing journey. Whether you are a new or returning student, the SCU community welcomes you with open arms and we are thrilled to have you with us. In the words of President Scaringe, “Today you are professionals, not students. Everything you do from this point forward is a reflection, not just on you, but the professions that you represent. Everything you do is for the greater good of healthcare and patients.”
The excitement has been building throughout the campus this past week as we prepared for your arrival. It is inspiring to consider the discoveries and accomplishments that lie ahead. There are many great changes taking place at SCU. As we continue to grow, we are happy to welcome our very first cohort of students participating in the Masters of Science: Physician Assistant program. We are also happy to welcome new faculty and staff—all dedicated to making your experience at SCU meaningful.
When you join the SCU community, you are joining a tradition of excellence. As leaders in evidence-based integrative healthcare education, our mission is to train you to be competent, caring, and successful healthcare practitioners. You are embarking on a student-centered interprofessional education that is meant to be transformative—academically, socially, and professionally.
In the coming weeks, I encourage you to explore the campus, get to know faculty and staff, and nurture your relationships with fellow students.
I extend my best wishes for a successful and rewarding year!
Warmly,
Debra Mitchell Benavente
Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs
