SCU Faculty Member San Hong Hwang Recognized for Accomplishments in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

SCU has presented a special award to faculty member San Hong Hwang, O.M.D., L.Ac., in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in the areas of teaching, patient care, and exemplary leadership in the profession of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

Dr. Hwang has been with SCU since 2000 where he is the Clinical Director and an Associate Professor at the university’s College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. He also has his own private acupuncture practice located in Huntington Beach, CA. Prior to joining SCU, Dr. Hwang served as Academic Dean, Clinical Supervisor, and Professor at other acupuncture and Oriental medicine schools in Southern California.

Dr. Hwang has extensive organizational leadership involvement, having held the positions of President of the American College of Oriental-Western Integrated Medicine, President of the California Acupuncture Medical Association, President of the Council of Acupuncture Organizations, President of the Acupuncture Medicine Association of Southern California, and Honorary President of the California Alliance of Acupuncture Medicine.

Dr. Hwang received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine from Samra University in Los Angeles, CA, and his Doctor of Medicine from Chung-Shan Medical and Dental College in Taichung, Taiwan.
