SCU is now offering treatments to the community as part of its research towards developing effective complementary and alternative healthcare solutions to common ailments.

Currently, SCU is seeking volunteers from the community to participate in the following initiatives that support the university’s clinical research:

Treatment of Fibromyalgia with Acupuncture
SCU and California State University, Fullerton, are conducting an acupuncture research study on fibromyalgia. This research study aims to investigate the efficacy of electro-acupuncture in reducing Fibromyalgia (a musculoskeletal condition) pain and symptoms. Participants that qualify will receive a series of 10 acupuncture treatments by experienced licensed acupuncturists at no cost.

Treatment of High Blood Pressure with Acupuncture
SCU in collaboration with the University of California, Irvine is conducting a research study to determine if electro-acupuncture can help reduce blood pressure in patients with mild-to-moderate hypertension. Participants that qualify will receive a series of 8 acupuncture treatments provided by experienced licensed acupuncturists at no cost.

Treatment of Cold Sores (Herpes Labialis) with Ayurvedic Herbal Cream
SCU is performing a clinical research study for an investigational topical cold sore treatment. This research study will strive to find out the effectiveness of the Ayurvedic Neem Herbal Cream in the healing of cold sores. Participants that qualify will receive study-related medication and examinations at no cost.
